Acceptable Use Policy
Pending legal review, not legal advice
This document is provided for transparency. It has not been reviewed by a qualified lawyer and is not legal advice, and it does not guarantee any particular legal protection. A review by counsel is planned. Last updated: September 15, 2026.
The core rule
Use ZipRecover only on ZIP archives you own or are explicitly authorized by the owner to access. Anything else is prohibited and may be a crime.
1. Purpose and scope
This Acceptable Use Policy ("Policy") describes permitted and prohibited uses of the ziprecover.online website and browser-based ZIP password recovery tool (the "Service"), which is operated by Neverland Technologies, LLC, a Delaware limited liability company doing business as "ZipRecover" ("Neverland Technologies", "we", "us", or "our"). This Policy supplements and is incorporated into our Terms of Use, and a violation of this Policy is a violation of those Terms. By accessing or using the Service, you agree to this Policy. This Policy is a draft provided for transparency and is not legal advice.
2. Authorized use only
You may use the Service only when all of the following are true:
- You own the ZIP archive, or you have explicit, current authorization from its lawful owner or an authorized controller to recover or test its password and to access its contents;
- Your use complies with every law and regulation that applies to you and to the data involved; and
- You have made and maintain your own backups of the archive and any data before using the Service.
Typical authorized situations include recovering the password to an archive you created, one you were given along with permission to open it, or one you handle on an owner's behalf with their consent.
3. Your representation and warranty of authorization
Each time you use the Service, you represent and warrant that you own or are explicitly authorized to access each archive you load, that your use is lawful in every jurisdiction that applies to you and to the data, and that you are not using the Service to access data belonging to any other person or organization without authorization. You are solely responsible for determining that you hold this authorization. This representation and warranty is a condition of your right to use the Service.
4. Prohibited uses
You must not use, or attempt to use, the Service to:
- Access or attempt to access any archive you do not own or lack authorization to access;
- Defeat, bypass, or circumvent security, encryption, or access controls protecting another person's or organization's data;
- Facilitate unauthorized access, hacking, industrial espionage, or theft of trade secrets or credentials;
- Stalk, harass, threaten, or intimidate any person, or invade any person's privacy;
- Process, store, or handle material that is unlawful for you to possess or handle, including child sexual abuse material and other illegal content;
- Violate any applicable computer-misuse, unauthorized-access, wiretapping, data-protection, privacy, intellectual-property, trade-secret, or export-control or sanctions law;
- Infringe the intellectual-property or other rights of any third party;
- Misrepresent your identity or your authorization to us or to any other person;
- Use the Service in or for the benefit of any embargoed jurisdiction or sanctioned party, or in violation of applicable export controls; or
- Abuse, overload, probe, scan, reverse engineer for an unlawful purpose, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its hosting, delivery, or supporting infrastructure.
5. Your responsibility and assumption of risk
You are solely responsible for determining that you are authorized to process each archive and for the lawfulness of your use. You use the Service at your own risk and assume all risk arising from that use, including any loss, corruption, or unavailability of your archives, files, or data. The on-screen confirmation you tick before a search starts, after the tool has read and analysed the archive on your device, is a product safeguard to remind you of your responsibility. It is not legal advice, it does not grant you any rights, and it does not verify your authorization.
6. Practical limits on enforcement
Because recovery runs entirely in your browser, we generally cannot see how the Service is used and cannot technically monitor, verify, or block individual uses. This technical reality does not lessen your obligations under this Policy, the Terms of Use, or the law. Unauthorized use can expose you to civil and criminal liability regardless of whether we have any visibility into it. Where we do become aware of misuse or receive a valid legal or abuse report, we may respond as described below and cooperate with lawful requests from authorities.
7. Consequences of violations
We may, in our sole discretion and without liability, take any action we consider appropriate in response to an actual or suspected violation of this Policy, including suspending, restricting, or terminating your access to the Service under Section 14 of the Terms of Use, blocking access from particular networks or regions, updating or removing content or functionality, preserving and disclosing information as required or permitted by law, and reporting suspected unlawful conduct to the appropriate authorities.
8. Copyright and DMCA notices
We respect intellectual-property rights and expect users of the Service to do the same. If you believe that content on the ziprecover.online website infringes your copyright, you may send a notice under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act to our designated copyright agent at abuse@ziprecover.online, or by mail to Copyright Agent, Neverland Technologies, LLC (d/b/a ZipRecover), [physical address to be added]. Your notice should include: identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed; identification of the material claimed to be infringing and information reasonably sufficient to locate it; your contact information; a statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law; a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf; and your physical or electronic signature. We may remove allegedly infringing material and, in appropriate circumstances, terminate access for repeat infringers. Please note that the Service does not host user archives, as recovery is performed locally on your device.
9. Reporting abuse
If you believe the Service is being described, promoted, or used for unauthorized or unlawful purposes, or you wish to report a security concern or other abuse, contact us at abuse@ziprecover.online. Please include enough detail for us to understand and, where possible, act on the report. We take reports seriously and may update the Service, its documentation, or these policies in response.
10. Changes
We may update this Policy from time to time. Changes are effective when posted, and your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
11. Contact
